If you could wrap yourself in any color, what would it be?
Why do I have such a hard time making a decision? My first reaction is green...a nice vibrant, deep green. It feels cool, makes me feel fresh and alive. But green isn't always a good color for me.
So my second choice is coral/salmon...is that a color? That is the best color for my complexion...but it doesn't feel like green does.
Sigh...so this is a short ten...and wrap me in green!

Pets....
Are you a pet person? What pets do you currently have? If none, why? What pet would you like to have?
When I was little I had cats, dogs, rabbits, turtles, goldfish, parakeets and even mice. Yup...not the hamster route for me, I had little gray mice. I loved all things soft & fluffy.
As an adult I broaded my range a little adding in horses, tropical fish, cockatoos, snakes and many different dogs - all sizes & breeds. I've had an assortment of the Heinz 57 varieties, Great Dane, Alaska Husky, Irish Setter, Golden Retriever, Yorkshire Terrier, Australian Silky Terrier...I think that's all.
I currently have no pets. My last two dogs were rescue pups and next time around I will do the same. One got away chasing a squirrel before he knew where "home" was. The other got too ambitious at getting out of the car at a rest stop and was hit and killed.
Stu & I both love dogs...we get our pet fixes from everyone else. LOL! We will eventually have more but that will wait until we have a permanent home and aren't traveling like we do now. We prefer the freedom of being petless when we are out on motorcycle trips, visiting family & friends or on vacation.
Would I have a cat again? Sure...they are so different than dogs, so much more independent but when they come up for love, you know they mean it. But birds just aren't my thing so I don't think I will dabble in that area again. Same for ferrets...some folks love them, not me. LOL!
Cheers,

Romance is it....Chapter One
Write the first five paragraphs of your next novel.
Ok, no more excuses. Chapter 1 is at the top of the page. Get crackin'!
Kelly dropped her head to her desk. What a day and now this! As the owner of her own software company she worked long hours every day. The last day off she took was when the power went out all over the city. Even then she packed up her laptop and client folders and drove over to a neighboring wi-fi hot spot. So that day didn't really count.
Now she was actually considering two whole weeks out of the office, away from the phone calls from nervous clients, far away from her comfort zone. She just didn't see any alternative. It wasn't that she didn't trust her partner, Kevin. After all, he was her best friend. Okay, he was pretty much her only friend and not in a romantic way. They had met in college, become study buddies and the die was cast.
When the two of them had the chance to start their own company, Double K Software, it was a perfect blend. Kevin was a financial wizard who happened to also be a good analyst/programmer. Kelly saw the forest while Kevin saw the trees. Big picture gal, tiny detail guy. What more could you ask for in a network security firm.
But now she had to leave. Well, she didn't have to but the attorneys for her unknown grandfather thought it was best. Kelly was an orphan having lost both her parents at a young age. She'd survived the foster home system and then lost her long-term foster father recently. Was it any wonder she wasn't real adventurous?
Sighing, she read the letter again, hoping the contents had changed. Nope, still the same. Her mother's long lost father, so long lost she didn't know he existed, had died and left her his logging business back in Oregon. In addition to the logging business there was a small dude ranch operation on the land he left her. Land...it was a mountain! The attorneys felt that it was best to meet her in person and then take her to her property to show her around. They thought she'd be better equipped to make decisions once she had visited. She wasn't concerned about the property, that would be easy to sell. But she had to admit that she was more than a little curious about her grandfather. Who was he? What was he like? Why hadn't he stepped forward when her parents died? Why put her in his will. Too many "whys"....

Reality checked....
What is an experience you would like to have, and don’t limit your imagination to reality. Would you like to appear on Survivor? Would you want to be invited to the White House? Would you like to climb a certain mountain? Swim with dolphins? Have a day without obligation to job, family, whatever? Soar like an eagle in a glider? Want me to stop making suggestions? OK, you got it! I'm outta here!
Wow....what is an experience I would like to have...and don't limit it by reality. Okay, reality checked at the door. I guess I'm lucky that I have been able to do most things in life that I wanted...not always when I wanted but eventually.
I think the one thing I would love to do...again...is tour the country by motorcycle. I'd do it for 6 months to a year but needless to say, funds would have to be unlimited. LOL!
I have so many fond memories of touring the country onmy Harley in 2005. So many roads ridden, so many places seen, so many people met...it was a healing year for me. I've always said if I had the chance to do it again, I wouldn't have a schedule...so that would be the big change for me.
Cheers,
Donna

Waking up this morning....
What was the first thing you thought about when you woke this morning? How did it make you feel? How did it impact your day?
Hmmm, depends on which time I woke up...LOL! Needless to say, the first time I woke up was to look at the clock and hollar out to Stu asking him how long he had been up. I then immediately fall back to sleep. 6:30 was too early to get up.
The second time I woke up the first thing I thought about was all the things I wanted to accomplish today. I wanted to write a blog entry. I wanted to start plowing through all the paper clutter on my desk. I wanted to get our tax paperwork ready. I wanted to do some laundry. I wanted to make phone calls. I wanted to find a bag for geocaching. I wanted to read. I wanted to relax. LOL!
UGH!!! I was exhausted before the day started....
So far, I have done quite a bit. Hoping to find some time to sit outside and read for a bit though before the day is out. The weather is gorgeous...sunny, dry, warm and only a light wind. Life is good!!
Cheers,
Donna

Pet Peeve Rant
Have a pet peeve? Don't hold back. Tell us about it!
I used to have a lot of pet peeves. I used to be a lot more impatient. Watching a loved one deal with and eventually die from cancer makes a lot of those things seem so very unimportant.
But the one pet peeve I still have is rude, inconsiderate people...those folks that are just oblivious to anyone or anything around them. You know the ones. They are pushing their shopping cart forward while they look to the side. Then they give you a dirty look when they hit you.
The ones that stand and chat in the middle of an aisle, oblivious to those trying to get through....and it always takes at least three "Excuse Me"s to get them to take notice and move.
The ones that go through a door in front of you and let it slam in your face.
The ones that hear the announcement to please silence cell phones and beepers and then not only don't, but answer their phone when it rings.
The ones that park in handicapped spots....when they aren't handicapped. Especially the ones that use a family members placard when that person is NOT with them.
I could go on and on but you know who I'm talking about.
I love one comedian's quote, "You can't fix stupid." These folks aren't stupid but their actions are.
BOO!!!
Cheers,
Donna
