Doing reasonably well...

My walking is doing better, my diet has been good and I'm drinking more water. Down 1.5#, I leave for a month in Ecuador next Monday and will be there for a month. No weigh-ins but lots of walking and very healthy eating. Watch for a report when we get back. Have a good month!!

Traveling makes it hard....

Just a quick stop by - we've been traveling since Wednesday and getting in my steps is tough. I've tried but am not where I'd like to be. But I keep walking every chance I get...

I did weigh at down 1.5# but with road food, that has probably been gained back. Sigh...

Interesting approach.....

I first read about the Body Reset Diet from a link on my browser's home portal page. It sounded interesting so I downloaded a sample chapter from the book. Stu and I talked about it, he read the blog page and we decided it was worth getting the ebook.

I've been reading the book and even though I'm only about 10% through it, I really like what I'm reading. A simple, achievable and healthy approach to weight loss; an approach that is for life, not just for today.
Five categories of ingredients, 5 minutes of prep time, five meals daily— that’s my highly successful formula.
So the now I needed to get a blender. I typically pick up the $14.99 versions at Wal-Mart but Stu preferred an Oster (still made in North America). I easily found one on Amazon that met the suggestions by the author, Harley Pasternak, and it will arrive on Tuesday. Next step, a good and ACCURATE pedometer!

The first five days are three smoothies and two snacks, the second five days are two smoothies, one non-blended meal and two snacks and the last five days are one smoothie, two meals and two snacks. Maintenance is definitely doable and livable,; plus the exercise is nothing extreme or painful. 10,000 steps every day and adding 5-10 minutes of home exercise that requires no special equipment.

Obviously, the 10k steps are what we are working towards now so guess we need to decide if we wait to start till we are doing that daily or do we start the diet now and just do our best on the steps. What would YOU do?

Not weighing in yet....

Today is a week since I started walking but I'm not weighing in yet. I'm giving myself another week for two reasons. First and foremost, my diet choices haven't been the best the last couple of days.

I did try, honest. We went to breakfast at Cracker Barrel yesterday and I stuck to their new Wholesome Fixin's menu. But dinner last night wasn't so good. We are visiting family, ate really late and the menu didn't have much on the healthy side to choose from so I went with an old stand-by, Chicken Quesadillas. That means I'm holding a LOT of fluid today.

I also didn't get to walk the last two days, not the way that i should have. Wednesday was moving day which means driving all day plus eating out. Not great... Yesterday we ran errands after breakfast so I did get in about 2 hours of shopping speed walking. I added it to the chartl but know it's not the same.

I did 34 minutes today but my tracker got messed up, telling me I walked at 4.44 mph. Now that is funny...so I tried to extrapolate my walk based upon history for the chart entry. Tomorrow I should be able to walk but Sunday, no walking. I'll be spending all day helping out my brother's motorcycle club with their annual charity run.

Monday, hopefully, we'll get back on track. Of course then Wednesday rolls around and we're moving again. In fact, we'll have probably three travel days before we arrive in Maryland. I will do my best to walk when we park at night, even if it's laps around the truck stop. But realistically, I know 15-10 minutes will probably be the most...I will try to do it both morning and night to hit my 30 minute current goal.

Week 1, Day 4

I won't be blogging every day but while in the starting days I thought I should at least make an attempt. I added a column for the elliptical and noticed that my chart is edging off the page. I did some tweaking and hope it's better now.

Diet yesterday was good. Breakfast was 10 calorie Jell-O, blueberries, strawberries and a little half 'n half. Since I slept in, it was really more of a brunch so my midday snack was some mixed nuts (no peanuts).

Speaking of which, did you know that a peanut is NUT a nut? Coulda fooled me!

Dinner was a nice salad with mixed spring greens, fresh sweet peppers, cherry tomatoes, shredded chicken, fresh pico de gallo and some feta cheese. Yummy!!
